RoboCup Prototype-3

For the last 2 weeks we have been working on our prototype which we will shoot the qualification video for the competition.

We found material which is 1mm thick aluminum both in the top and bottom and 2mm polyethylene in the middle. We cut the chassis from this material according to our original technical drawings. The finished chassis weighs around 80 grams.

Considering the weight of the motor mounts we used 3mm thick aluminum, which is very light. Motor mounting, motor shaft, and wheel shaft holes are drilled twice as the size of the required size for perfect meshing in the gears.

To strengthen the wheel shaft we used two bearings 3mm apart. Hence the thickness of the motor mount doesn't have the required thickness, a small piece of aluminum part is made in the lathe just to fit there to hold two bearings.

We decided that we need two different place for the electronic parts and the battery. In the bottom area there will be motor drivers and the battery, on the top, our micro controller and wireless shield will take place. Also a pretty basic dribbler is made for the prototype, hopefully we'll improve it before the deadline.

We have all the needed electric motors and motor drivers, we'll mount them very soon and start testing. Here is a video, without any of the electronic parts.
